about
SHE'S A GIFT is a song I wrote with the great JD Souther, for One Flew South's debut disc "Last Of The Good Guys". The demo was used on the final product, after instrumentation was added to our acoustic version for a fuller presentation. My favorite memory regarding this cut is that Chris Roberts and Royal Reed, my partners in OFS, sang the demo on the fly, having never heard the song before, and that is the version that made the record...Absolute magic.
lyrics
In the world of broken stories, and artificial glories
It's hard to see the treasure in this place
You wake somewhat bewildered, trying to remember
to keep the deepest worries off your face
'Cause somebody relies on you , to push the rock back up the hill
and you'd give your life before you let her down
She's A Gift
To everyone she meets, makes it easy to believe
that goodness is alive in this world
She's A Gift
To help me keep my path
share a smile, and hide a laugh
And say the three best words I ever heard
She's A Gift
There are hurts that need attending, the job is never ending
Someone needs to be up to the task
And all along the common way are the faces of a new day
who would speak up, if someone would only ask
So like sunlight on the water, she moves like heaven's daughter
Turns darkness into wonder like a warm and welcome thunder
She's A Gift
To everyone she meets, makes it easy to believe
that goodness is alive in this world
She's A Gift
To help me keep my path
share a smile, and hide a laugh
And say the three best words I ever heard
She's A Gift
There is magic that is made in here
Children growing with no fear
A peace that's all around us
I know how
She's A Gift
To everyone she meets, makes it easy to believe
that goodness is alive in this world
She's A Gift
To help me keep my path
share a smile, and hide a laugh
And say the three best words I ever heard
She's A Gift
She's A Gift
To everyone she meets, makes it easy to believe
that goodness is alive in this world
She's A Gift
To help me keep my path
share a smile, and hide a laugh
And say the three best words I ever heard
She's A Gift
