LEFT BEHIND is a song inspired by the frustration of growing apart from those we love. No matter the promise of tomorrow, challenges are delivered via the unexpected changes in today's existence, happenings impossible to plan for, disappointment too great to escape.Inevitably, there is separation from personal happiness, resulting in separation from the very souls who make up the world we know.
Dave Matthews, producer extraordinaire, and I aimed at a new production template for the WIDE OPEN WORLD, and "Left Behind" is a perfect example of the fresh sound we were searching for; it is a stark, minimalist approach , acoustic guitar, drums from the BRILLIANT Jamie Rogan, and Dave adding synthetic keys and other interesting atmospheric colors, as only he does, coupled with a very honest vocal. I love the finished art that this song is.
