about

This song was the first track on the 2002 release "A Work In Progress". It's essentially about someone in your life expecting you to do things that go completely against your own individuality, for the sake of making money. A cut out is a cardboard standup that retailers often use...a weird metaphor, but I thought it worked.

lyrics

Your silence is a cutting tool, and I'm a wounded fool,
but never will I be your cut out..

Winning your affinity
questions my genuinity
Maybe it's just not right for me
Either way I know, I just can't take it
Selling you on my beliefs
has kept my breathing long and deep
The price becomes a bit too steep
Either way I know I just can't take it
Either way I know I just won't fake it

Your silence is a cutting tool, and I'm a wounded fool,
but never will I be your cut out.
Your promises scream of perfect schemes
Elusive billionaire dreams
If only I would be your cut out
If I only I would be your cut out
Cut Out

Got your finger on my pulse
Testing me with weak results
Maybe it's really all my fault
Either way I know I just can't take it
Since you know what's best for me
Well who needs creativity?
Lock me in and toss the key
What the hell, I just can't take it
Pull on my strings cause I just won't fake it

Your silence is a cutting tool, and I'm a wounded fool,
but never will I be your cut out.
Your promises scream of perfect schemes
Elusive billionaire dreams
If only I would be your cut out
If only I would be your cut out
Cut Out

Like a puppet for a thousand hands
Same direction with a different plan
Turning me into a beaten man

Your silence is a cutting tool, and I'm a wounded fool,
but never will I be your cut out.
Your promises scream of perfect schemes
Elusive billionaire dreams
If only I would be your cut out
If only I would be your cut out
Cut Out
